August 2026 is coming to an end and it has been a wonderful month full of flying shows, building new bird enclosures, discussions with a company to build our own unique bookings management system and much more.
People often ask if summer is our busiest period….well it used to be but not these days. We have bookings all year round, but the summer season remains a standout part of the year. It is often plagued with bad weather days; heavy rain, extreme wind or a combination of the two. This year, far more sunshine and a countless number of heat waves. How do we keep our birds of prey cool in these situations? It's quite simple; we keep the birds in the shade as much as possible with fresh cold water available at all times (to bathe in and drink if they wish). Aside from that, it's important to keep an eye on them.
One of our rule is to not run any outdoor events (or indoors where there is no air conditioning or alternative cooler space) if the temperature exceeds 30 degrees. Travelling is OK, as our vehicles are all fitted with air conditioning, so a wedding is OK as it s a short booking to fulfil.
As we approach Autumn, we can look forward to some cooler weather, where we can fly our owls and other birds of prey in longer sessions.
